ARA Joins Coalition Comments to EPA on Draft Insecticide Strategy

ARA joined a coalition of more than 160 agricultural groups in comments filed to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention to express numerous concerns with its draft Insecticide Strategy.
The comments state, “While we support EPA becoming compliance with the Endangered Species Act (ESA) and all the Agency’s legal obligations, it must do so in a way that does not drastically disrupt U.S. agriculture, other vital users of insecticides, and the consumers who rely on food, fuel, fiber, and other services we produce.”
This draft strategy is one of many moving forward at EPA as part of federal litigation against the agency related to alleged failures to fully comply with ESA consultation requirements with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services and National Marine Fisheries Service when registering or re-registering pesticide products.
