ARA Co-Signs Letter Opposing Delay to NEPA Reforms that Speed Up Infrastructure Development
Jul 28 2021
ARA co-signed a letter to the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) in opposition to a two-year delay of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) reforms being implemented by federal agencies. These necessary NEPA reforms that speed up infrastructure development in rural communities especially were finalized during the Trump administration.
ARA and the undersigned organizations say in the letter that it would have been appropriate for CEQ to take comment on issues prior to issuing the Delay Rule in order to minimize disruptions for agencies and the private sector.
As members of Congress work to pass potentially historic bipartisan infrastructure legislation, ARA and the undersigned organizations emphasize that stable and efficient NEPA permitting regulations are essential for major projects enabled by government and private-sector funding.
