What is next for ag retailers now that Donald Trump is the President-elect and Republicans have taken Senate control? Richard Gupton and Hunter Carpenter of the ARA public policy team share top takeaways for the agricultural retail industry.
"While election results are still being counted in many states, it is clear that President-Elect Donald Trump will return to the White House in January 2025 with a strong mandate from the American people," said ARA Senior Vice President of Public Policy and Counsel Richard Gupton.
"ARA is optimistic about the future for ag retailers under a Trump administration focused on tax relief and rolling back harmful regulations affecting agribusinesses and farm community."
ARA Senior Director of Public Policy Hunter Carpenter shed light on what the House and Senate elections might bring for our industry.
"We also see a path for Congress to focus on a few of the top priorities of ARA and our members such as swiftly passing a bipartisan Farm Bill, extending and expanding important tax relief, and implementing critical immigration reforms that address border security and the H-2A visa program, which is vital for a strong agricultural workforce.
"A major factor on how quickly bipartisan legislation can pass Congress hinges on whether the GOP maintains control of the House and who is selected to serve as part of the new leadership in both chambers of Congress," said Carpenter.
