Oct 18 2021
ARA co-signed comments with the Ag CEO Council sent to the U.S. Department of Transportation in response to the Executive Order on America's Supply Chains with recommendations to improve the transportation industrial base.
The comments cite tariffs, cyberattacks, weather disasters, and the pandemic as causes of the supply chain issues that are contributing to inflation and supply shortages in agriculture specifically.
ARA and the undersigned organizations list the following issues as the most problematic for ag supply chains:
- labor
- barges
- ports & shipping containers
- truck and rail freight
- fertilizer
- chemical inputs
- energy
- equipment and parts
- water availability
Read the comments for more details on these supply chain issues.
