ARA Sent Comments to EPA on Paraquat Dichloride Registration Review
Dec 16 2019
ARA sent comments to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on Dec. 16 regarding the registration review process for paraquat dichloride because many of the new EPA requirements will make it very restrictive for agricultural retailers to purchase and apply paraquat products.
ARA is concerned with the increased costs a closed system will place on the industry after ARA member Drexel Chemical Company previously estimated the new EPA requirements will cause paraquat pricing to increase as high as 50 percent. Paraquat is an important herbicide sometimes used as an alternative for glyphosate-resistant crops.
Read the comments to learn more about the impact these new regulations may have on agricultural retailers.
