Recap of ARA Crisis Preparedness
Mar 17 2020
Participants with various roles, from communications to agronomist, worked together to improve their approach to crisis communications and management at the ARA Crisis Preparedness workshop, sponsored by FMC, on March 9-11 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Billy Pirkle, NovusAg, kicked off the program with a timely discussion on the COVID-19 outbreak before diving into the basics of an emergency action plan and an emergency response plan.
Following the work session on day one, participants enjoyed a brief networking reception to unwind before the group dinner.
Day two transitioned into media training led by FMC communications professionals Lisa Homer and Lars Weborg. After the speakers shared real-life crisis responses and slides hitting the key aspects of a crisis communications response, the group broke out into teams to craft their own crisis response plan.
Wasting no time on the third and final day, participants engaged in realistic mock interviews with the media for a chance to put what they had learned during the workshop to the test.
